Pioneer of bioinfomatics services
Since we had participated in the Japan-U.S. collaborative project in bioinformatics through the Institute for New Generation Computer Technology (ICOT) in 1990, our company has contributed to produce numerous public databases and analytical services using the latest IT technology. This has been developing products from scratch to meet the diverse and advanced requirements of our customers in this rapidly evolving field of life sciences.

 Outline of major achievements
We have succeeded in developing databases with various fundamental functions of bioinformatics, such as homology search, multiple alignment, gene discovery, ontology and so on. Further, we have produced numerous stable web services with SOAP using parallel computers and grid computation for high-load sequence analysis, protein identification search, protein structural analysis and so on. We have been able to reduce costs, since maintenance is seldom necessary during stable operation of these systems.
Our company has ISO 14001 certification as a company that promotes environment management policies for contributing to the elimination of global environmental problems.

 Contributions to academia
We benefit from a cooperative relationship with a number of academic institutions, and in return we grant academic institutions free access to R Graphical Manuals , which is already frequently accessed by major research organizations and companies all around the world, as well as eGHack Database , a catalogue database of microbial genes predicted by GeneHacker Plus. We also developed Tissue DB ,provides a comprehensive hierarchical nomenclature for human histological structures.

 Large-scale projects
We respond quickly with low-cost solutions for large-scale projects in the life-sciences field. Our company was involved in the ground system development for the phased array type L-band synthetic aperture radar (PALSAR), one of the most important features of the satellite “Daichi” launched by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). We exercised leadership in the project, participating from the initial proposal stage. We have also collaborated with U.S. companies in high-tech areas including synthetic aperture radar. Further, we were responsible for developing the system integrator (over 100 personnel involved) for the Japanese side of the ASTER project in cooperation with NASA in the U.S., which was the pioneering project in this area. This ground system, which is in the over 100-terabyte class, has continued extremely stable 24-hour operation for nearly 10 years.

 Measures to combat security problems
We provide security engineering services, making use of our comprehensive security know-how. Specifically, we offer design, installation, testing and operation and support services with respect to system security. Our achievements include the creation of a secure, 24-hour electronic commerce site which can be franchised. We are also involved in promoting the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) qualification, which is considered the premiere certification worldwide. We also run system security engineering process ability testing using means such as ISO/IEC 21827 (SSE-CMM).
